Grass-like evergreen perennial native to California and Oregon. Stiff, cylindrical, gray-green stems clump together and stand upright. Discrete, yellowish-brown flower clusters emerge from below leaf tips and present from spring to fall. Tolerant to heat, dry shade, and drought, this species grows well under a wide variety of environmental conditions, from wetland to desert gardens.
